Hand-crafted by Whakatāne-based artist, Robyn Watchorn, these brooches celebrate the white camellia - the symbol of women's suffrage in New Zealand.

In 1893, Aotearoa New Zealand became the first country in the world in which women could vote, thanks to the hard work of the suffragists and their supporters. The campaign adopted the symbol of the white camellia, which now appears in a number of places around the Parliamentary precinct, to honour their historic accomplishments.

Brooches are handcrafted ceramic. Large brooch measures approximately 8cm across, and medium brooch measures approximately 6.5cm across.
